Description

The dial of this watch is in outstanding condition - it has a nice warm tone and the printing of the dial is very clear

what makes this especially rare is the HS9A designation - these were produced for a short time in the early 1960s and they are identified by the asymmetric case and the white dial

so do be aware that the case bears the usual marks of wear

The movement is the excellent Smiths 27

keeping time to within about a minute per day

Smiths Imperial Automatic The dial of this watchThis is a rare Smiths automatic from 1961 in a stainless steel case. The watch can be dated quite accurately to 1961 because Smiths rebranded the automatic line with the Everest name from 1962 onwards. The automatic movement was the apex of technical development by Smiths, indeed Smiths were the only English watchmaker to ever produce an automatic movement. It was developed in the late 1950s in keeping to the widespread adoption of automatic movements
